is it true that the human rights community is stiffled? what moves us?
is there a community, really?
what moves you?
should we all be advocates? should we professionalize?
well.... here i believe that we can do better than thinking that we all have to be alike! well developed policy and legal strategy is only part of making change happen. dancing, movilizing, singing, crying can be as powerful... or even more compelling?

i agree, the struggle for human rights does not only take thought and courage, but also heart and the affirmation of a life worth living.
yet, the representation of human suffering is a complex issue: is it political art, the denunciation of abuse, its reproduction and naturalization, a banner for the struggle, or maybe the celebration of victimhood?
i think it not only depends on the intentions of the artist and the qualities of the song, text or performance, but also and mainly in the context of consumption, where, why and how people come in contact with the piece of art.
congratulations viviana for the blog and welcome to web 2.0!
